Hydrodiffused lemongrass essential oil from Haiti. Also known as West Indian lemongrass.
Species: Cymbopogon citratus. Family: Poaceae. CAS: 2/1/8007.
Haiti's lemongrass is less citral and sweet than East Indian lemongrass and it has stronger citronella notes. So the aromas are different, but pleasant.
Aromatherapy: Top note. Uses include treating fever, hypertension, insomnia, stomach distress, skin problems, sore throat, and respiratory problems.
When cooking, hydrodiffused lemongrass is used especially for for dipping sauces and salad dressings, according to Ray Newby.
